Why do I want to exercise some level of expertise when observing and learning about a new culture?  

My motives may be really strong and pure.  I want to be a loving and effective messenger of the the Gospel of salvation and life in Jesus Christ.  I know that I need to understand and function well in my host culture where I minister.  But what if my methodology for becoming competent in the culture has some flaws?

You don't want to end up like this well-meaning cross-cultural ministry team:



Assignment: 
  1. Watch the video.
  2. In the wiki (group bulletin board), referencing the "Viking" behavior, share 1 behavior or attitude you would not want to repeat, and why? 
  3. In order to add your comments to the list, click on the "Edit" tab below and add your thoughts. Be sure and scroll down and click "Save" when you are done.
  4. Be sure and come back and see what others have written.
